The work done by Ana Caballero, vice president of the European Association for Digital Transition (EADT), in defence of better protection for minors in the digital realm was recognized on Tuesday, October 8th, by the national police.
Caballero, who from her position at the EADT chaired the expert working group brought together by the Ministry of Youth and Children “to develop a safe digital environment” for minors, has been awarded the Police Order of Merit from the national police, in the category of the Cruz Blanca as a person from outside of the Institution.
This is also recognition of the work done by the European Association for Digital Transition which, under Caballero’s leadership, in 2023 promoted the first proposal for a State Pact, with specific measures to better protect minors in the digital realm. This initiative, promoted by the EADT, was joined early on as founding entities by groups such as the Fundación Anar, Save The Children, Dale Una Vuelta, iCMedia and Unicef España. Later, the advocates received institutional support from four authorities – the Spanish Data Protection Agency, the Attorney General’s Office, Injuve and the National Commission on Markets and Competition – and the support of more than 190 entities such as, to cite just a few, the Asociación Española de Fundaciones (AEF), FAD Juventud, the Fundación Atresmedia, Fundación Instituto Hermés and the Fundación Mujeres.
This recognition was done on behalf of the Division Chief for International Cooperation at the national police and by the General Director of the police, and by order of the Minister for Internal Affairs, Fernando Grande-Marlaska.
